The Journal of Interactive Online Learning (JIOL) published its first issue in 2002 and was among the first peer reviewed research journals in the discipline to be fully online. For 16 years, the journal has provided a forum for the dissemination of research on interactive online education, and has published numerous articles that have helped readers further their knowledge of emerging innovations in online education. The journal provided a venue for manuscripts which encompassed disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Throughout these last 16 years, many of our readers have shared with us the different ways they have used JIOL articles in their classrooms. We, the editors, as well as the many readers of JIOL, have greatly appreciated the contributions of the many authors who have chosen JIOL as a venue for their work. This last issue is dedicated to teachers, students, the contributing authors, and our peer reviewers who have made JIOL such a success. You helped us achieve excellence through rigorous, blind reviews and publication.

Finally, all of the content of the Journal of Interactive Online continue to be made freely available into the future. Although we will not be publishing new issues, we will keep this and all prior issues publicly available at http://www.ncolr.org/jiol.
