The Journal of Interactive Online Learning focuses on providing a venue for manuscripts, critical essays, and reviews that encompass disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives in regards to issues related to higher-level learning outcomes.
 
The Journal of Interactive Online Learning is published by a joint effort of The University of Alabama, the University of Texas at Tyler, and Miami University, as well as faculty from other institutions.
 
The Journal of Interactive Online Learning is a scholarly, peer-reviewed online journal which offers free access to its readers. Copyright is maintained by JIOL.
 
The Journal of Interactive Online Learning is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. JIOL does not allow commercial reuse of its content. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.
 
 
 
This journal of theory, research, and practice in interactive online learning serving all disciplines aims to:
  • Provide a forum for the dissemination of research on interactive online education
  • Disseminate ideas that enhance the practical aspects of interactive online education
  • Further knowledge and understanding of emerging innovations in online education
  • Foster debate about the use and application of online education
 

JIOL Notes and Accomplishments

 

JIOL has consistently managed to receive, send out for review, report status, and conduct final revisions for each submitting author(s) in fewer than three months. 

JIOL has a 6% acceptance rate making this appealing to those accepted authors.

The journal’s listing is included in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Educational Technology and Library Science, Elsevier's Bibliographic Databases, Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG), AERA’s Open Access Journal list, and www.knowledgeboard.com among others.

The journal has had over 100 leaders in education conduct reviews of article submissions. Many are journal editors themselves, in addition to being highly regarded in their disciplines.

The journal is asked periodically to review new book releases that pertain to online learning.

The journal routinely receives reprint requests, including permission to include links to specific works.

JIOL is listed in the Social Science Information Gateway (SOSIG).
